So guys I've started a new project.

I'm going to build a dyno Tongue

First we will build a hydraulic braked Motorcycle roller. But we're building a hub mount on the side. When the dyno is all sorted we're going to build yet another one so we can hang a car on the hub mounts, like the DynaPack.

This is the first dyno build for me so I've got some things to sort out. All help and inputs are appreciated. So feel free to trash my thoughts Tongue

The roll will be 500-600mm i outside diameter and about 40mm thick, the length will be 500mm.

The bench will be 1500mm wide and 4000mm long (and 750mm in hight).

This is the first sketch of the frame. Will update as soon as I got other measurements like roller diameter and so on.

We are aiming to peak at 500hp or in that region to be able to test Hayabusas Big Grin

What's your thoughts in this?

A friend of mine bought a water-brake dyno for a easy price of around $1000 on ebay and it is capable of 1500hp....
He is getting it put into the ground as we speak.
Other than that I am very dyno-illiterate Big Grin

'82 300D -3" straight pipe, ALDA deleted, 3in1 glowshift gauge, HX30, egr-less manifold, A/W intercooler Big Grin
'14 Ram 6.7l cummins -G56 handshaker, wishing it was deleted

$1000 Huh that's crazy cheap.

Not so much done design wise today. Have asked about the steel roll and a little about the hydraulic actuators. Going to use a hydraulic pump from a rear lift from a small truck. That should be the best one I think. But the search for best and cheapest goes on.

That is why he bought it, cause it was insanely cheap. Good luck in your endeavors!

Thanks mate.

I think we are leaving the hydraulic behind now and go for pneumatics. Cheaper, faster and more easy to build. This will be one of the most advanced dynos out there for the money spent Tongue

Not done more then the top cover and some counter sunk holes Sad

A diesel shop in my state has a dyno that is computer controlled an the rollers can simulate anything from sled pulling to the 1/4 mile drag strip. Its pretty crazy

We are computer controlling this to off course, with the right file loaded we can simulate a lap on the Nürburgring Wink But it's only done with tuning in mind. Hope we can do some quick load system so we can bring it to some trackdays and so on.

When it's coming together I will post some facts so you all can build it your self without all of our mistakes to be Tongue
