It looks like you've got the EGR hooked up. If so, that's what's responsible for the lion's share of carbon in your intake tract.
Power-wise, a pump with 6mm elements would pep the car up without changing it's character.
Very nice car, excellent wheels. I respect your desire to keep it near-stock. Often big changes involve a lot of sacrifices.
