Thanks guys.
I haven't worked on a car in a year, i forgot how rewarding it feels, especially when it's not your daily driver and you're under the gun to get it finished so you have a car to drive
Started today with a blank canvas
And here's how I left it
I even took a few extra minutes and put my momo steering wheel and wood shift knob in
Valve adjustment, removed the glow plugs and injectors. Cleaned up the linkages and vacuum system a bit, painted the valve cover. Removed EGR, ALDA, and air cleaner. At this point I'm just waiting on parts to come in. The linkage bushing is shot, motor mounts are collapsed into the frame. I pulled my injectors out of the '85 and cleaned them up, they should still be good, definitely better than what I took out, the originals are gunked.
Fuel level sender is bad, I tried to get the one out of the 85 to no avail. Channel locks wouldn't work and I don't have a socket big enough. I want to pull the original to see what it looks like to determine how the fuel tank looks (sludge or no).
Pulled the instrument cluster to fix the odometer.
