I was going to post this in the Arrow rod thread but thought it best to start a new one instead.

I have a close friend that can have runs of rods done to any dimension from the same supplier that makes Crower and other big name rods. The min order is 4 sets and the price is very very good.

This is the drawing of the volvo units he had made a few years ago for something like 120 a rod. I know the OM606 rods would be more since they are way bigger and the run would be smaller than the volvo rods but either way its a lot cheaper than arrow rods.

Does anyone have the specs on the OM606 rods so I can get him some numbers to get a quote on a few sets?

I have been thinking about getting some done for myself but don't need four sets. Would anyone be genuinely interested?

I'm borrowing this for a moment so we can help each other out here.

om606 turbo engine .961/.962/.964

Compression ratio is 22,0:1 but what about actual cylinder pressure? Bar or PSI does not matter but have someone done a recent compression test of an healthy engine?

Stock piston, rod combo weight? With everything attached!

How much does a stock rod weighs?

Stock rod bearing part number?

Stock piston pin size?

Where are the stock oil holes on the rod?

Rod CC measurements in mm?

Yea and every other dimensions you can get your hand on.

F-tune Performance [Image: V-band_om606.jpg] [Image: GTX3582R.jpg] [Image: gs6-53dz_gearbox.jpg]

I can help you out with all your manual transmission, clutch, flywheel, intake and exhaust manifold issues.

Shipping to Sweden is easy. I used to lived there and my buddy did for many many years and ships Volvo stuff to Scandinavia all the time.

Here is what I was able to find from Mercedes documents for 606.961/.962/.964

Distance from middle of conrod bearing bore to conrod bush bore 148.97-149.03mm
Width of conrod at conrod bearing bore and at conrod bush bore 21.948-22.000mm
Conrod bearing shell basic bore 51.600-51.614mm
Conrod bush inner diameter 28.018-28.024mm
Conrod bush outer diameter 30.575-30.600mm
Conrod bush basic bore diameter 30.500-30.525mm
Piston pin play in conrod bush 0.007-0.018mm
Rz of conrod bush on inside 5um
Permissible out-of-roundness and conicity 0.02mm
Permissible twist of conrod bearing bore to conrod bush bore over length 100mm is 0.1mm
Permissible difference of axial parallelism of conrod bearing bore to conrod bush bore over length of 100mm is 0.045mm
Permissible difference in weight of complete conrod of an engine 2g

Has someone broke a turbo rod? I mean with torque or high revs, not with coolant leak or bad timing.

I think the real question here is was that blueberry pie on that plate in the back ground??

I spoke with R&R rods a while back as they have made some MB diesel rods in the past. They run around $1000 for a set. Seems to me the big improvement is in weight rather then strength, the failing point in OM60x engines doesn't seem to be the rods. I decided on keeping the factory rods for my 605 build.....

But all the more power to those exploring this avenue!

What are the usual failure points of an OM60x engine? I've heard of a high hp OM605 here in Australia spinning the main bearings out.
