Hi everyone first proper post since my introduction anyway I'm thinking of buying a w201 2.5 non turbo with a manual box soon as a project i wish to drop the musso 2.9 turbo engine into it as a simple power plant as I know I won't be able to live with the non turbo plodder . My question is after I have dropped it in what sort of engine mods could I do to be making around 200-250bhp ? How tuneable is the 662la engine ? Has anyone on here messed around with one or the fuel pump & different turbos ?

A problem I will bump into tho when I fit the 662la is that the turbo with hit the steering box as the uk market never got the turbo om602's as there rhd & the steering box is in the way . How have people sorted this problem out ?

There is a two types of 662LA
120PS stock, 132PS stock.

Second one is a better one actually

Thicker con-rod, Thicker piston, More efficient coolant line in cyl head, etc

so, it can handle over 250hp for sure, 300 could be ok


But there's a low rev limit because
602, 662 2.9 has too long stroke than other standard OM engines

I fitted an om605 with turbo into a right hand drive w124 with no issues. Power steering pipes are thight but dont seem to foul and the exhaust pipe is off a standard w202 c class.

Is there a way to tell between each om662 la engine ? I'm thinking of buying a whole damaged jeep for the engine either rexton , musso or korando & break the rest for spares , have you got a build thread or could you pm me pictures if your build if you have any many thanks
