Alright, I think the time has come to make a push bumper for the w123, so hopefully my buddy with the truck is available next week to help me go pick up the metal and start some of the fabrication stuff. Anyway, I thought it would consult with the gurus while I'm still in the planning stages of the project. What gauge steel you think I should get? My buddy was thinking 10ga would be good, although I think something a little thicker might be better? I'm thinking of something along these lines, using the stock bumper shocks

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!

I mean, 10 gauge probably isn't that bad of an idea, little thicker than 1/8th inch.
Any thicker than that it'll start gettin reallyy heavy. If your afraid it won't be strong enough, just make some support gussets and braces

'82 300D -3" straight pipe, ALDA deleted, 3in1 glowshift gauge, HX30, egr-less manifold, A/W intercooler Big Grin
'14 Ram 6.7l cummins -G56 handshaker, wishing it was deleted
