    Good Day,

I have read almost everything in the forum about OM602 engines.
I own a 1986 230G with 2.9 turbo engine from sprinter(OM602.980).
It works with electronic rotary pump. Since I use it off road, I would like it to be completely mechanical. A friend hooked me up with an OM662.

My mechanic says the performance from a mechanical engine could never get close to an electronically controlled one. We will keep the wiring and everything aside so there will be a way to turn back.

I will overhaul the engine completely then change the injector elements to 6mm. The original turbo is garrett gt2538c. The stock turbo will be good enough for how many hp? From what I've read in the forum, I figure out the best turbo choice to my needs would be hy30. I need a fast spooling turbo for Low rpm torque.

Could I get 180-200hp and 350-400nm torque from this set up and would it be reliabe?
What other changes will I have to make?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Good day,

I see nobody has clue or interest for the om662.
What if we think it as om602 2.5 liters?
How much should I expect with the inline pump with 6mm elements and the original garrett 2538c turbo? If the turbo will need to be upgraded, what will best suit to reach 180-200hp?

Thanks

that not correct you can look under projects and see a SsangYong om 662 getting fitted with a mechanical VE pump goal is 200 HP without smoke
regarding the power the 602.980 has 129 HP and the 662 has 120 HP so there isn't much difference and all the high horsepower engines is old fashion prechamber engines just with 4 valve pr. cylinder
I have 3 om662 engines but because the 605 engines are so cheap I am in the process of making 1 for my SsangYong Musso using oil sump and oil pump from the 662 engine together with the pump.

I have 140 HP with my 662 engine now just with fuel pump tweaks and a better air filter, but to get more I think you have to get a bigger turbo the 6 mm elements and a good intercooler
