I have a W124 300td, which we putted a OM603.960 into.

I bought the engine of some guy, and he told me that the diesel-injection-pump was adjusted. I didn't care, since I thought it wouldn't be any problem. It was automatic, but we've converted it to manual, and it's working great.

But we have a problem.

If I start the engine and rev, it's fine. But when it reaches a certain amount of RPM, it won't get down again, it continues to rev, and even gains more RPM, the only way to end this is by pressing the handle on the dieselpump to turn it off.

I've seen that there are some adjustment-screws at the backside of the pump, and I guess that's where the problem is.

But does anybody here know WHAT is wrong? Does it get too much diesel?

There isn't any testbenches around here where I live, as far as I know. So if you know what's creating this mess, please refer to which number it is on this picture: http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p...g?t=1304385911

EDIT: It was automatic transmission, but we converted to manual.

Do you know if the pump from OM603.912 and OM603.960 have the same adjustments on the pump? Because I have a 300td N/A where I could look at the pump. Smile

It's the same pump for the n/a version. There could be some small differences but I it's technically the same.

We decreased 2f and 2b with 1 turn, and the engine now works! Thank you!
