I saw this gem on a pump at a ghetto gas station on the way home from dinner the other night... it's hard to see but on one side there was an eye bolt and the other side there was a couple of zip ties in place of the hinge.

The fail here is that I smacked my face into the bicycle, not the ground.

I think I must have cut through a nerve, because it did not hurt one bit, not even when they sewed it up!
What hurt was my pride, I was riding down a ski mountain, and had literally 10 minutes before gotten a lecture on safety by one of the mountain employees. I was high enough up on the mountain after flying off that I climbed back up to the lift to get a ride down. That was big time humiliating, riding down the lift with all these people coming up saying- "look at this idiot"

Here is a pic of the scar on my son's chin from when he did a jump on his dirt bike and hit the handle bars. Yes he was wearing a helmet but, he came down in such a way that his head titled back and smacked the handle bars. He bit a hole in his tongue, luckily he didn't bite a chunk out - it was closed by the time we got to the hospital. We cleaned him up, used butterflies and half a Darvocet did the trick for pain. We went to the hospital and they complimented me on how well we took care of the injury. He ended up getting 4 stitches and I learned how to do sutures for the next time
