got good deal on a mint 123 wagon with a blown 617. how much of a 603 will bolt in to a 123 chassie? would the trans bolt up to it or they are different?

I don't figure you mean blown as in it has a supercharger... haha
I believe the starters are on opposite sides.

I don't think much will bolt up, but I think another guy on here did it with a coupe, I'll see if I can find the thread

Okay it wasn't a coupe, but it was a w123

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!

Its almost drop in. The driveline and transmission mount fit. Only thing you need is to drill a new hole in the chassis and bolt it so that the front bolt holes line up with the back holes from the tranny mount.

With this the engine sits very far to the front. So far that the original fan doesn't fit and needs to be an electrical one.

I don't know of the w126 engine mounts fit with this swap, so i made them myself.

Cho and Tito,
You both are talking about using the 603 trans as well correct?
And would it be the same for a 606?

Yes, But I don't think the tranny will hook up to a 606/603.

I've sadly never even seen an 606 but if it has the same engine mount style I don't see any problems.

cool that's what I was looking for I like the hub caps on the 16 they look stock at first! if I put a 603 in first a build 606 would go later.when I have time but I can buy rusty 123 300td's here with 603's so would make a good driver with a bigger and tuned engine in it

my friend keeps telling my to put a small block chevy in it! but want to keep it diesel
