hi,

i have come back to my supercharger mounting again.

the m112 is too long to fit under the inlet manifold with the engine mount and chassis will be too close to pipework, and i don't want to move my power steering pump.

was toying with this idea, have i went mad. should fit above the steering pump.

[Image: SU1HMDE3MTktMjAxMzA2MjYtMTgxMi5qcGc_zps78a4dee3.jpg]

either turn the manifold upside down too leave room for the charger or just put the charger on top, either way something is going to peep out through the bonnet.

I would more the power steering pump, or get an alecrtic unit (but that's just me).

If anything is sticking up it better be the supercharger, nothing says mad max quite like that.

larsalan I guess I need to look at this stupid ass drip shit. What you have to like mess with those elements on the pump? What a fucking hassle. then use some wire to hold the throttle open or some shit?

like this then.
either on top of the rocker cover or the manifold.

Is it better to keep the charger flat or on its side for the oil inside?
i know very little about chargers to be honest.
i can rotate it any way up there as i have plenty of room.

I would mount it on the manifold, and add support to the manifold somehow. That way you can get at the injectors/ valve cover if there is a problem

Make a custom intake manifold. I would cut the manifold like 4-6 inches off the head and mount the supercharger directly to the head.

You can mount the blower in any clocking orientation as long as the rotors are horizontal. However, make note of the oil level check screw, depending on the OEM position, (yours was most likely sitting on the outlet), so depending on how you position it, you will have to fill the oil with the blower off, or put a new fill port in the nose cover that allows you to fill and check the gear oil...

Just in case you did not know, the air flows in from the back end of the blower and out the bottom.

I think I posed pics of an Eaton M90 that I shortened the drive snout on in a different thread..

Oh, another thing, most likely there is a spring loaded dampener between the input (pulley) shaft and the rotor gear.. They tend to fail as they get old and if you look on e-bay, you can get a rubber coupling to replace the squishy spring one. You can tell if yours has the spring one by holding the rotors and trying to rotate the pulley back and forth, one way will be solid, the other way the pulley will turn and you will feel the torsion spring winding up.

hy there,
i am curious why u whant to use a supercharger in a diesel engine?
could u make some light to me?
any how if is your intention to use the super charger to precharge a huge turbo, u still have to make a way of cooling the air, as i see things u could put it anyway where u got space.
Just another question , your oil radiator is OEM or is it a MOD?

Hy there,
Recently i had to "change " one oil filter assy in order to bolt in pipes instead of having the oil to water cooler, it was easy doing. i just couldn´t find oil filter assy for oil to air coller conections in Portugal, even in old merc. all i found was water to oil coolers , that was my question.

Now that i understand the charger issue, i would put it right above the turbo, built a base for it . it wold discharge right to the turbo inlet , more less curve and u still have place for a buterfly valve once the charger mass limit is reached, open a hole in the hood for charger breadingSmile

if u look at the principle of a low ratio turbofan engine , (thats what we call aviation engines) the compressor usually benefits from "ram" efect, this hapens when the inlet pressure is above 1. well the thing is an airplane moves through the air with the compressor inlet exposed to this "ram" effect once the A/P reaches a certain speed.

So u will benefit from pressurizing the turbo with the charger at low rev , but what are u inteding to do when this inlet pressure drops below 1? that will happen from 2/3 k on , i m sure the turbo will suck a lot more air than the charger will be able to pressurize.

we should never forguet that air is a compressible fluid.

What about straighten up the engine a bit? Should not hit the hood and you have enough room on the left side. Then you can mount the turbo quite low and you will have room for the blower on top of the turbo without hitting the hood.

hi,

i would need to get a turbo to see how much room i have.

is there a crank pulley available with extended piece for another belt, i want to run the charger off its own belt or will i have to make one?

yea,
would be a good idea but that pulley is so small and can't make it bigger or charger would be slower.

anyone know if there is a 3 inch clutch pulley available, or smaller?
