hi everyone,

we've been building an OM616 with a 603 pump with 7.5mm elements (built by pasi i think). standard turbo. alda is connected.

so far so good, engine runs great except for one thing:

after a few short sprints/accelerations on the road the engine suddenly starts to "misfire", power is gone, and big cloud of white smoke (from the smell of it it's pure unburnt diesel) comes from the exhaust together with a loud diesel ticking sound.

after maybe 5 seconds pushing the throttle the smoke is gone and the engine suddenly runs great again with full power.

does anyone know what the cause of this could be?

Could be a fault with an injector (broken spring, ect) I would try to get it to skip then isolate what cylinder is the skip. Then swap the injector to rule that out, or if it follows that injector.
Wouldn't think it would be a fault with the pump as it sounds as though it is only effecting one cylinder.

How does a 6cly pump fit on a 4cly motor?

Rusted out beat down 300d turbo 82' -- RIP
Nice body, tons of ridiculous mechanical issues - 300d turbo 82' /motor 85'

I think he meant om606 6cylinder not the om616 240d 4cylinder
