Ok i have a spare wrecked 90 300d with an om602 and trans in it. I am planning a antique pickup truck project and am looking for the powertrain for it. What is the potential power I can safely get out of it? I am willing to spend the money on sending injection pump off for 7mm elements and come up with and intercooler for it also. I have read on here people are putting holset chargers on the 603's like the hx35, hy35, hx30?? The 602 is smaller would I be better off with the hx30?? I know it depends on hp level but I want a good reliable driver with not much lag, I don't want it for hot rodding and burning the tires off it. Is 200-250hp to much to ask for?? what about trans upgrades?? any input would help.

I think you're on the right track in terms of power goals.

Does anyone have a holset part number for the 7 blade compressor turbo?? Will it bolt up to exhaust flange without adapters?

I don't think any of the larger holsets will bolt up to a t25 manifold, they are usually t3.

But you may rather go for a holset he221w if you are satisfied with max 300hp! These are rather cheap and the best turbo regards spool and performanceWink
It has an t25 flange!
I have one in my 4 pot 1665ccm bmw 8v diesel and with a big 7cm housing i have full pressure at 3000rpmBig Grin

HY35 7 blade 9mm vs. HE221W. Which one spools faster? Is the HE221W the smaller one, limiting HP?

The HY 35 is used on 01 & 02 Dodge Ram automatics. I'll have one from my 01 for sale soon. Getting an HX 35 for my Cummins. PM me for details.

The he221 has an 60mm compwheel, so it is much fasterWink have seen 320hp on vw 2.5tdi with this turbo and 6 cm housingSmile

so it sounds like the he221w would be a better match for 200-250hp, because of less lag, is that correct.

HX(Y?)25 is relatively easy to find over at 4btswaps and has a t25 flange. Not sure about 602 but I had a hard time fitting one on a 603 with an adapter.
