Anybody know if these turbos are any good? They are certainly cheap enough

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-T3-T4-T04E-T...19c07b9dac

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CXRacing-Stage-I...2a2308ff6a

The seller has a bunch of other ones too

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!

Bug CRD4X4 about his VNT hoarding problem.

I paid 120 for my 2056V back in 08. You can get 2256Vs and 2056Vs cheap look on multiple craigslists

Didn't check the ebay listings (I'm on the phone) but ball bearings are good. I'm scared by anything that talks about "Stage ##" upgrades.

The 2056V is on the small side, but it's easier to find sometimes-they often list them as "M53" turbos because there's a big M53 casting mark on the compressor housing

Hhhhhhhh, gosh dangit Deliveryvalve. Maybe after I get payed, we'll see. I'm trying to slow down any auto related purchases for a while, because I don't want to be broke when I'm done farming in a couple months

I'm also thinking about buying an old truck that is simple to work on, to replace one of our newer trucks that have computers and smog crap and are unpleasant to work on

What's your inspection/emission cutoff? Get an old exempt Ranger, and toss in a fuel injected 2.3L or 2.5L. Dependable as a rock, and twice as slow.

I think emissions cutoff here is '76 or something. As for the Ranger, I have an '84 just chillin' in the back yard, and today an executive decision was made by my pop and I that the 2.3 gasser is coming out, and a 617 will be taking its place. So I am now in the market for a 617, and any info about similar swaps would be helpful too, or at least about the mating of ford transmission to mercedes engine. I probably should start a thread about it lol

I found out that the Ford flywheel is a bitch-you'll have to make an adapter or use another flywheel. If you want to go nutty on is run an escort flywheel and a mustang/ranger disk-it's like 8 lbs lighter.. Using the 84 body will make it easy, the torsion bar suspension lifts easily.

If your 2.3 has the tubular exhaust manifold sell that on ebay. Anything wrong with the 2.3?

Yes start a thread you lazy whore.

Nothing wrong with the 2.3, just needs to have the timing belt put back on. and probably carb. rebuilt. Yeah I need to get an engine lift soon so I can do all of this stuff. That or a couple of pulleys and use our sturdiest tree. I see a trip to harbor freight this weekend.

CL a lift, don't tree it. Put that 2.3 on a lift, toss in rods/rings/roller rockers, port the head, and slap a tubro on it for like 250-300hp
