I've got a stock '92 300D OM602 that I plan to turn into a project car. I'm going to stick with the 602 motor. My goal is 350-400 horsepower with a good power band. Any suggestions for the following:

Pump--where to have the work performed, what specs?
Transmission--manual?
Turbo--Holset or Garrett
Cooling system?

Do I need some sort of security clearance to do a STD Benz project?

i think you'll want to go with a OM606 for that kind of power.

For a 602 more like 300hp.

IP - there are pump guys on the forum, dieselmeken and pp d.
Transmission - up to you. If you want manual then a 5-speed from a w201 would be easiest, you would need to beef up the clutch though.
Turbo - whatever you can find at an appropriate size for the hp you want. If you want the widest powerband then you will need a VGT or a compound setup.
Cooling - the 87 radiator is bigger, if you have issues then that is a possible upgrade path.
