Hello all. So I had an idea. I saw a 500SEC (W126 I believe) recently in a car show. And of course I noticed it's awesome hood/grille. I was wondering what it would take to put a hood like that on my 300D. I know the headlights are set up differently and the fog lamps are below the bumper. I've looked for dimensions to determine whether it would fit or not but I haven't found much. According to one site I found, the width of a W123 is about the same as a W126. I'm not sure about the length or height. Just eyeballing it, it appears to be about the right size. But I don't know if the engine or radiator might be set too high or something. I think I'd have to at least replace the headlight assemblies, and put on a new bumper piece for the fog lamps.

Any opinions?? Oh and here's a picture in case you don't know what I'm talking about.

nope, you can not just swap them..or even easily adopt Sad
w124 hood also is not even close to specs of w126

w124 has some aftermarket "sec look-a-like"
but in my opinion w124 with those are ugly dogs Smile

Oh dang I haven't looked at this thread in a while. I really like the wider look of the coupe grille. The sport grill looks good but I'm not really liking the idea for my car. I might go and modify it from scratch. But engine modifications come first.

There were two Euro w126 Coupes at my local yard about four months ago.

They've since been crushed. Didn't think anybody was looking for such stuff. Huh
