Hi all
I've been visiting this site for quite some time now so thought I'd join in now as I'm carrying out an engine transplant with the 605 engine.
I've got the engine from a c250td, fuel pump from 602 mercedes 310 van (I think)
722.414 4 speed auto from e250d and I'm just starting to put it all together this weekend!
The idea is install it standard and then pump adjustment/ 7mm elements and large turbo ( holset hx35W) on a bespoke manifold due to the suspension upright I think will be in the way....I'll know more next week as I dry fit the engine and box to see how it all lines up.
Does this sound like a good plan? I think I'll be looking for around 200bhp but good low down power, I'm not looking for a peaky monster of a motor due to just being used of road only.
Oh yeah I'm in England and it seems mighty hard to trace where to actually buy the 7mm elements I'm wondering if someone on here can help?

chuck,you might do ok for what you want to get the 6mm elements out of the electric injection pump on your 605 already, built into your manual pump by goran (dieselmeken) then let him get the fuelling to max efficency staying with the standard 605 turbo or just fit the turbo off a 606 (slightly bigger?? someone correct me) this will give you very little lag and lots of low down and midrange just what you want and i think you will find that this setup does not hit your chassis etc on a g wagen rhd because i do these alot.
you will need to delete egr and maybe use a 606 ali inlet manifold with one set of branches removed (ie.5 branch to get rid of the plastic manifold to give a feed up into the plenum then you fit an iveco 3,5 ton van intercooler in the front panel and a pressure operated wastegate actuator 12 psi is safe and try it .. best of luck lets see some picture of this !-mike

Thanks for your reply mike, that sounds like a good plan to me, so is the turbo slightly bigger and also cannot any diesel pump specialist change the elements?
I take it that it's not a straight forward job?
What is the problem with the plastic manifold? Are we thinking more boost will split it open?
Just measuring it by eye it looks like it's going to be awfully tight to the spring locator.... So im hoping your right Wink
I will put some pictures up when I hook the v8 out.

plastic manifold awkward but doable with a suitable silicone hose ,i have a good company in s hampton to do element change just send them b oth pumps,is your pump definetly turbo? go on the g wagen owners assoc. forums and go on diesel and read posts by tony bruegger on 60x engines into 461 the mount part nrs are what you want ,i have put 605 into 460 before it clears .

the pump can be adjusted to allow for that it just will not have an alda but you are using it offroad anyway it should work fine for you ,the alda controls the smoke related to manifold pressure ,turbo pumps are not cheap compared to n/a pumps

the pump can be adjusted to allow for that it just will not have an alda but you are using it offroad anyway it should work fine for you ,the alda controls the smoke related to manifold pressure ,turbo pumps are not cheap compared to n/a pumps

I've now got my 605 running with my 602 pump, I'm looking to upgrade the turbo slightly, I've was offered a holset hx27w at a reasonable price so I went ahead and bought it.. It's arrived and seems only marginally bigger 42mm compressor wheel compared to 39 ( slightly rough measuring) does anyone know if it's likely to be a good enough upgrade to be able to to flow enough air for 200-250 bhp? Or am I wasting my time making it fit? I was thinking because it's a fairly small housing it would spool well at lower revs?
Any help or advise would be appreciated.
