i have a 1982 300td that wont accept any transmission crossmember. I tried modifiing the original 240d manual tranny crossmember and nothing. bolt holes are off. i tried putting the 300d auto mount backwards, didn't work. Last night i picked up a 240d auto mount, and same thing. im pretty frigged over since my dad wants his hoist back haha. Can anyone please tell me whats wrong? or post up pictures of their crossmembers? thanks

From memory, you should have "slots" in the car which has those clip on deals which creates threads for the bolts. There are 2 or 3 on each side so you should be able to make something fit. I recall them being yellow zinz or cadium (if that stuff was still around). Maybe those clips got moved around. At least that is what I recall on my 300 and I think my new car is like this also.

I just removed the black plastic trunk inserts and found a mystery wire about 5' in length that went no where but was grounded so I have no idea how or why it got there. I realized after 25+ years, there is a secret or a hidden something if you look hard enough.

What transmission are you using? That might be the problem.
