Are the W123 gas transmissions the same as the diesel W123 transmission. Can they be swapped? Are the gassers vacuum controlled?

The '82 transmission PN is stamped 722.30902177726. Can anyone reference that for fit for my '85?

The main thing to worry about is the bellhousing, which can vary depending on which engine the 280 has. Sounds like it would swap over, but you can check what side the starter is on to be sure.

In '84 the transmission was improved and if I can remember right once more in '85. The torque converter is higher stall speed to help with top end, the gearing is slightly different and your speedo might not sync up unless you do some homework. There are tons of these turds out for parts, find the right parts!
