As stated above..
Are they worth the money.

I just bought a 1990 7.3liter F-250 and it has dual batteries. Both batteries are dead and im not sure as if i want to spend that kind of money on batteries...

If the red top's go completely dead they are ruined! will not charge again. however the yellow tops are deep cycle and can be left dead several months and will come back just fine!

I am just talking out of my a.. but they are dry cell right. Better for the different angles a rock.crawler might meet. Also quick discharge recharge for sound system performance? Someone told me once upon a time i didnt need them for regular road driving. My dumb 2¢

They used to be. But now they bring the suck. Just get the autozone yellow top standard batteries.

What happened that they suck now so badly?
Some major change in design, or?

There about the same price, arnt they?
And for the price the "duralast" batteries are better than the optimas?
Im gonna take your word for it Jesse, just want to make sure before i go and buy them tomorrow..

IMHO they're more expensive than they are actually good.

Any deep-cycle gel battery will yield the same results, Optima are just famous and you pay for the brand.

I personally have three smaller gel batteries on my Van, for a total of about twice the capacity of a regular Yellow Top. I paid less than half for them. So that's 4 times as cheap. Gel (dry cell) and deep cycle.

My advice would be to go for a dry cell, but just not Optima (too F'expensive).

I run Odyssey Batteries now. They are pure awesome. I've had my 65-PC1750 for 2 years now? Ran it in the benz till the head gasket went (was cranking the fuck out of that thing to start it every time... Starter started smoking) and then it just sat around and I use it to jump start cars. That battery is champion and can power a small city.

I would love one, i was reading about them on Diesel Bombers..
BUT $336 is alot of damn money for a battery

If optimas and duralasts are the same price, it wouldnt be worth it to go with the optimas???

Well obviously you would be getting the same battery as mine lol. It would start a tank. But its $336 for the size needed for your truck?

They have 2. Last I checked they're 210$ ea. I have 2 optimas in my truck. One is dying the other is actually decent. Funny part is the newer one is the dying one. The good one is from 2007 or so lol. I won't buy another. They don't have the output at all anymore. They're dead after a week or do and my truck has very little static draw.

I've had a pair of Duralast gold tops in my 03 F-350 for the last 2 1/2 years and they have been great! They have sat for months while I waited for Elite Diesel to make good on a few turbos I bought from them, I have my CB hard wired and a sub amp and in dash nav system that I'm sure adds up to one heck of a parisitic drain. I did last weekend however ententionaly drained them down to 12v and took them back to autozone and warrantied them out for a brand new pair! Smile I know that was kind of messed up however now I will keep putting Duralast gold tops in all my rides (except for the MBZ's, I don't think they make that size).
