Doing some research on increasing power on my 83 300d, and like most diesel engines tweaking the pump seems to be a common practice. Lots of talk about the M pump, but trying to find one seems to be very difficult, so wondering what can be done to the stock pump.

thanks for taking the time to read this - look forward to your input

This thread seems to be aimed at both mw and m pumps...
Take it easy, and take youre time, and read it all..
Sort out what seems to fit you're pump, take notes, and tune it Smile
If you're confused, this might be the right place to ask for the right way, but read the guide, and try to sort it out for you're self first Smile

I made it, so anybody should be able to do it, with a little focus, willpower and the right attitude, you'll be there in a jiffy! Good luck Smile

Thanks - looks like all the information I could ever need. Did it make a big difference on your car? Did you delete the ALDA?

Just a word of caution about that thread in regards to the MW/RW pump specifically, the instructions for adjusting the RW governor (used on MW pumps) can get you into trouble very easily, and suggests some improper techniques to try to increase fueling (removing the rack limiter for example), where with the proper combination of adjustments, you can have as much fuel as you want and still have control of it.

Not looking to start a war, just hate to see that information presented as the best for the MW pump specifically.

There is another doc that is just for the MW/RW pump. Many have had better success adjusting and controlling the RW governor using the information in it. Full disclosure, I generated a great deal of the doc, but defer to the comments from those who have used it's information successfully.

The funny part is I do not have a link to it, so if someone can post it that would be cool.

Would love to hear more about the elements and your car sometime. Well have to get together over a wobbly pop or something. I work out in BC so maybe meet at Rum Runners!

I adjusted my M pump 2 rounds, and it made quite a big difference Smile
I didnt remove my alda, i just turned it a few rounds in Smile

Adjusting the rack limiter and such, is not for me, since i didnt feel enough compitent to do so, and wanted to get advice from an experienced friend of mine, but bought a 8mm herlevi pump instead Tongue
