Been reading up on EGR and wonder how many people have deleted the emission components on their cars? Have done it lots on other cars, but wonder how it affects the 300d.

It affects it the same as any other car. Less dirt in the intake == longer life == less pollution from making a new car.

But, don't you know, its there to "lower combustion temperatures to reduce the NOX"!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol, possibly the dumbest idea I have ever heard, lets just put exhaust back into the engine!!! My egr is going away this weekend, so I'll post back in a couple days with the results

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!

That, or make/buy block off plates, which is probably the simplest, easiest method.

i looked a while ago (2 months) there was a guy on ebay selling them but none for sale now. Emailed him with no response. Could just get a small chunk of metal machined.

i found a set in the yards a long time ago, but if I had to make my own, I would get the gasket (intake side) and a piece of plate and go to town. The exhaust part was just a thin piece of sheet cut to the right size and slightly domed...a ball peen and a socket would likely work. It is installed with the stock band clamp deal. You could also likely get an extra exhaust fitting and have a piece welded to it as an alternative...depends on how good your local yards are. I hear a quarter fits well in the exhaust side as well... some people have just JB welded a quarter inside it effectively blocking the EGR but leaving the whole piece intact...I like the space provided by deleting it tho...

W123 Mods: 4 speed ** manual climate control ** '85 Kalitucky intake ** manual windows & full tint ** Euro headlights retrofit w/bixenon projectors ** 4 brake light mod ** Vogtland 50mm drop front & Lesjofors S600 drop rear springs ** 16" rims ** late w126 brake spindles, rotors & calipers ** full suspension rehab ** Bilstein HDs ** AL129X alternator & 1/0 starter and charging cables ** 300GD clutch/flywheel ** AFCO 80103N radiator & Earl's 41610 oil cooler ** custom block-off plate, remote oil filter & t-stat ** MW IP w/ tomnik's 6.5mm 'Holly' elements **

S124 Mods: 400E Rear subframe ** SL600 Brakes ** Late 300E 210mm diff ** SLK230 6 speed ** 17" CLK rims ** Vented RF Fender ** Facelift Hood, Headlights, and Lower Cladding **

Try a carriage bolt of the proper size (hardware store). 150 mi. from home when the egr pipe burned through. Was pulling grade at the time, kept looking back and all around for that Semi-truck that was quickly bearing down,no kidding ,everyone was looking!!
Where is THAT truck LOL..

I finished installing my non-egr manifolds last night, and am quite pleased. I would say the car definitely has increased performance, and while it is noticeable throughout the whole rpm range, it is most noticeable in the lower rpm's

’78-80 SD’s. Slightly easier to find than the 115 mani that we all desire. I’ve got an really nice non-egr exhaust that I am going to put up for sale soon. Its ceramic coated and tapped for a pyro meter and exhaust manifold pressure.

Just bolted my SD manifolds on this past saturday. Took me the better part of the day but was pretty cut and paste.

Before I put them in I had both ceramic coated. The intake in a very nice shiny silver and the exhaust in black. They came out great. I smoothed the intake down so it looks nice and not all ripply. I really suggest the ceramic coating for keeping the heat in.

Hey I didn't get them port matched or do anything really fancy, all I did was clean them up and paint the exhaust manifold

I should have put the w115 manifold that I have on when I did this but I didn't have a silicon elbow to hook it up to the turbo. But still, the non-egr manifold is definitely better than the egr-one
