Hi Guys, I got a great deal on a set of rods from an om606.962.

What options do I have for pistons? I know that OM606 pistons are the best, but would pistons from a OM612/647 or OM648 work? (understanding that the block would need to be bored out)

1991 500SL, yet another project car
1984 190D, swapped 3.6 m104 with a megasquirt

i think the newer style cdi pistons have a combustion chamber in them, so they will not be a good match! The best is stock om606.962 pistons (they have 28mm upper pin vs 26mm on N/A om606 engines)
And if you manage do destroy the OM606.962 pistons, let me knowTongue
They are REALLY strong!

those would be ideal, but hard to find.

Any thoughts on these?

You can see the combustion chamber in them.

right. my n00bness is shining through.

So the bowl in the middle is the combustion chamber and anything that has that is NFG for what I'm after?

I wonder how much machining is possible, or reliable. Like a custom bushing for NA 606 wrist pins, or modifying a 603 piston face to work on 606.
