So Saturday I brought home a '79 Mercedes Benz 300TD. It has beautiful black leather interior (minus the torn driver's seat). The owner thought that the engine had died from oil starvation and started to take the engine apart. I am going to reassemble the engine and see what sounds like is wrong with it. If that doesn't work drop, I will drop a turbo diesel in and drive it.

Also had a decent amount of stuff inside it including some Ham radio stuff, Simpson racing harness, helmet bag, two Pontiac Fiero seats and a pair of old Red Wing steel toe boots in my size.

I'll buy it from you for 300$? We got a deal right? You know the Mercedes aren't all that great. You should get rid of it while you can. Yup.
kidding by the way :-)

That's a stock Mercedes radio I don't know if its original to a w123 but they did used them in the 1960/1970

If you pull the knobs off there are 2 nuts one behind each knob and then the face should pop off if you want to clean it

Its not even a tape deck, just radio! How bitchin' is that

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!

Ah well, its still pretty boss. Our new Benz has a Becker Europa as well. Non-digital radios with knobs are waaaay cooler in my opinion than newer ones

Not bad! Even if the engine's fried that's a great deal. I thought my $1k 300d was a great deal. Well I guess it was. No engine problems. But there's a big vacuum leak somewhere, alternator isn't really doing it's job, and the paint ain't great. But I love her.

Let us know how it turns out.
