I'm toying with selling my om611 in favour of something faster.
Anyone know what diesel engines marry up with my sprinter gearbox?
Has anyone done this before??
Any help appreciated!

A whole range of MB engines will bolt up. All the OM60x, other engines from your van's time (om612 etc).

Does the om606 share the same engine mounts as a om611? And how about the output shaft? Splines? Will the clutch marry up?... Finding that out has put a big smile on my face!

Typically the mounts are vehicle specific, so no. If you're lucky you might be able to unbolt the 2.2 mount ears and bolt them to the 60x.

The sprinter flywheel should bolt up the crank. That will then allow the clutch to fit.

How about an OM605 from a C250? Seems more likely to fit.

What's the difference between an om606 and a om605?
The ammount of cylinders?
My van weighs 3 tons so Im looking for a large power+torque gain to justify removing the 611.
I have plenty of engine space for a top mount turbo and large oil cooler too, is my gearbox man enough to cope with 300hp? I obviously won't be doing rolling burn outs in it as its signwritten.
Plus is there a way I can get a longer ratio diff? my van hits the rev limiter at 110mph
