So why does everyone dread it so much? With some advice from winmutt i was able to pull the head liner out then figure out what the problem was.

it seems like a pretty easy repair to me. so why dose everyone get so sketched out about it?

Perhaps because neither winmutt nor you have publicly revealed the precious secret of how to safely remove the...?

Gone but not forgotten: two W123 sedans and two W124 wagons.
W124 1987 300TD wagon, for sale, $1000 (some assembly required).

What's a sunroof and where can I get one!!! Tongue

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!

ill try to get some pictures tomorrow guys. it seems pretty straight forward to me.

basically you open the sunroof yank down on the headliner portion. pull it out the front. then the whole tilt arm mechanism is exposed as well as the cable which is only attached with 2 8mm bolts.

so in theory removal of the cable is just removing those two bolts then taking it out of the motor assembly.

much easier to explain with pictures so ill try to get those up pretty soon.

lol they open up to lit that big yellow ball in the sky shine right on your head. and they are really easy to get. all you need to do is buy a pre equip mercedes benz and they have this fancy button that makes them open!

lol jk. sucks that you dont have one. but an aftermarket one is....well..alot of work
relevant, kinda shows the insides of the sunroof

Just personal opinion i never liked sunroofs or ragtops that arent hidden away. They look like rooftop spoilers imho. The w123 sunroof is perfecto.
