Does the engine temp stay fairly constant?

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!

It did on my dads car he got the rebuild kit off eBay for like $40 It's the heater valve on the firewall behind the intake manifold by the battery

This will only fix the heat if you engine is running at the correct temperature!

If you engine is running cold check your thermostat first

Well its running at 100C most of the time. I know its a little hot, but I really don't care that much in the winter.
Ok found the "how to" for my car "w126" http://mbz.org/articles/hvac/plumbing/monovalve/
Im to cheap to spent 40 bucks. Im just going to pull it off my parts car. Hope they are the same (parts car is a 500 SEL, and the car that Im having the issue with is a 300 SD)

Indeed. A word of warning: the genuine Bosch rebuild kits are apparently out of stock in some areas.

There is another brand (sorry I forgot the initials, something like ATP) available but be warned some people are saying the insert only lasts a few months.

I found this out after I did mine with the other brand, about a month ago, of course Blush
