Hello all. This is my first post. I've checked out this site for a while and finally decided to try and settle in here a little bit. I was getting fed up with certain other forums that every time I mentioned something I was doing or asked a question I was bombarded by a bunch of what I could only assume are old men in tweed jackets and ascots telling me why I shouldn't do such things. "the allmighty Mercedes engineers designed it that way for a reason so why would you change it?!" (to paraphrase) Umm, because I'm not afraid to think for myself Preston! Anyways, I'm rambling (or possibly ranting).
My daily is a murdered out 300SD, I have a retarded 86 560SEC and my current project is a '90 560SEC I am putting a 617 into along with a bunch of other sacrilegious mods. I might start a build thread on it if anyone gives a crap.
So just wanted to give an intro.

remember, at no time has mercedes ever sanctioned such destructive practices as improving the car over stock! Adding a manual to a turbo motor will blow out the crank seals! Adding a larger turbo will blow the head off the engine! Changing the rims will cause massive instability and result in a deadly accident!

Changing ANYTHING on the car results in the death of one kitten per hour, 2 per hour on weekends. How do I know this? I drive my car 3 times a week to the golf course and have it dealer serviced, so there.

Good show old chap!

Glad to see there is a little corner of deviant Mercedes enthusiasts out there. hope to learn a bit from this site. First I'll get the SEC rolling on its own power... then more power, then more then...
Actually not gonna get too carried away, still want to keep it reliable.

I'm of the opinion that as long as you know the consequences of what your are doing, go for it. Its the idiots who throw a K&N filter on without realizing that they are prematurely killing their engine that I yell at. And in general I yell at all S/W VO users with single tank or non heated systems.

This is the reason I don't travel to benzworld.org
I know a few of you here like that site but even looking at simple questions like putting an intercooler on your w123 is met with disdain and "outright laughter". Comments like "its a Mercedes diesel, why would you try to make it go faster?" for some reason piss me off, but I think that's a personal thing.

It also makes me laugh to go way back in the threads where people say "adding an intercooler will cause a lean condition and a knock" - tell me what that sounds like on a diesel for one and for two you have no idea how a diesel runs lol.

That's why this is my home, we're all pretty like minded people Big Grin
