i have a 1987 300SDL. Car has a vibration at high speeds so i took the driveshaft out. The universal wasnt perfect and had a couple tight spots. Went to order one and was told they don't sell it. Got looking at it and noticed no clips holding it in. I was told i need to buy the entire driveshaft for $600!!! Anybody had this problem?

The u-joint never moves, it will always have "tight spots" because it wears in just one spot. Unless there is significant play in the joint it shouldn't need to be changed.

Replace the driveshaft support and I bet your vibrations will go away.

Had the same experience on mine. New center bearing and support made it all go away.

'78 300D, OM617.912: 4spd manual, TB03 at 10PSI, 26*BTDC, DV's turned, HVAC, emissions system removed, e-fan, short ram, 3" downpipe to straight exhaust, W126 Bendix brakes, MR2 Spyder seats. 2890lbs
