Installed a smaller steering wheel, added a 17mm rear sway bar,all works great, but steering effort was increased, just feels stiff. Just not to my liking.
Remedy ; Remove p/s pump, clean, reseal,(while there),Add 3mm washer to volume control valve spring, drill output restricter, 3.5mm to 4.2mm.reinstall. Still has Mbz feel, no longer stiff. Wife described as Smoother, easier on her wrists. Works great!

Picture of power steering pump, arrow points to restricter. Just drill down through high pressure hose connector to pump. Restricter is at the bottom of this compression fitting.
Picture of volume control valve, installed 3mm shim behind spring at nut end.

Nice thread, re-sealed a number of boxes. One thought,ck steering play FIRST,If can not adj.out recommend diff. box, worn parts are the most expensive. Many yard boxes still in good shape, can update to auto compensating.

didnt you need to flush the pump after drilling out the restrictor to get the metal shavings out?

also might add to install a new filter while your in there, clogged filter can make for harder steering.

cars? what cars? WHERE???

Cleaned and resealed pump after mods,Yes clogged filter can poss. cause hard steering, although must be severely clogged.
Always recommend to ck all poss. needed repairs before any mods performed. In this case stiff steering only appeared immediately after installing smaller steering wheel and larger rear sway bar, after these two mods more steering effort was required . As was expected.

Thanks for comments, that which is common knowledge to some may not be known by others yet!,
