Hello Smile

Exactly how bad is it to run the 722.3 without the vacuum line connected? It shifts hard without, and I really like it Big Grin
Can it ruin the trans, or should I just get heavy duty flex discs and run it like this?

Also I have a problem with the linkage. When the shifter is in R, the trans is in P, when the shifter is in N, the trans is in R etcetcetc.
Will I just need a longer linkage? The current one is adjusted to be as long as possible. If it's too short, I'll just have to find another one.

Also I have no kickdown... That's electronically controlled, yes?

I'm not sure how bad it really is, but I've been running mine hard with no vacuum for 2 years/20k miles. It seems fine.

from your description, it sounds like your linkage is adjusted too long.
best way to tell is to disconnect the linkage rod from the shift lever side,
put both levers in P (shift lever and transmission)
and without bumping the lever positions, hold the loose end of the rod up to the shift lever to see where the end piece should be adjusted to.

if the car was originally automatic, then there's a switch under the gas pedal that connects to a harness which then connects to the tail end of the transmission

good luck!

You should have a kickdown cable on a 722.3.

I run my trans 722.1 manually (no vacuum, kickdown rod). I still have the electronic kickdown button thats it. If I don't want it to shift instantly I manually shift it if I'm not on the kickdown button.
