Hello,
I was a little hijacking E300TSC topic about his conversion, then I open a new topic for the better.
I was wondering about the IP removal anf the plungers.
1:there is the main screw that is the other way arounf, left thread, how do you lock the pump to unscrew it? It must be turning freely, or it is not? I don't think the locking tools itself would be strong enough?
2: what clearance is there to unscrew this left bolt? Does the Rad need to be removed or not?
3: once the pump is out, how easy is it to access the elements/ plungers, and how? Then how to remove them to replace them?
4: what tools are needed to remove the plunger, E300TSC you mentionned "special" tool, while Mantahead only used allen keys.
I might have more questions later Big Grin
Thank you.

1: I think you mean the bolt that holds the pulley. Yes it is left tread. Take off the vacuum pump and you access it. The chain stops the pulley so just unscrew it. Don't use the pump locking tool, it will be damaged.
3: To remove the pump is easy. Even to rebuild the whole engine is easy compared to replace and adjust the elements. So listen to a good advise, forget it!!!! Muuris and jemuu are probably the best tuners on this site, why do you think they don't change elements themselves?
I have worked as a diesel mechanic for many years and I know how to change the elements but still I sent my pump to PP Diesel(Finland), because I am not able to adjust the elements within acceptable limits. My guess is that E300TSC will end up sending his pump for adjustments too if he start to measure the exhaust volume and temp from each cylinder.

Thank you Erling, this is good to know about the bolt and the pulley, that's one step further Wink
Then the other option is to fit the elements and put the pump on a bench test. This will still be cheaper to fit them then giving the whole pump to a diesel specialist that need to fit the element, no?

do you think that a pump shop is much interested in "only adjusting" your pump and providing some kind of guarantee after you installed the elements without the professional tools, all the gaskets and checked measurements?
At the end of the day you will realise that it is not worth the saving of some EURs.
Send your pump to the shop that Erling recommends, install it and enjoy.

I NEVER testrun a pump that has been put together of somone that dont has the proper tools or the knowledge, The testequippment is to expensive to have as a waschermachine
I can fix it also for you, as a complement to the other shops that are mentioned in the topic.
Have complete Boschworkshop in Sweden, se my small videoclip if you are intrested.

Olivier,--Whats wrong with your IP...?

You know I wouldnt tell you porkies, But the guys advice above is Very Sound advice--Dont Try It At Home!

It REALLY ISNT as simple as just changing those elements, --even if you have the tools to do so. The issues are, Each Element must be set correctly....
--This is done by changing the Roller on the cam driving it. There's about 30 different size rollers!

You need very accurate measuring equipment to determine What Size Roller you need.--And, Theres Loads of other adjustments that have to be done when they are changed....

If you're altering for more Power, send to Tomnik or Dieselmeken as they have access to a Proper Bosch place with all the spares/rollers/and other items needing altering, and a test-bench to set it all up after....

Then, you can guarantee its done right...Just install and enjoy it....

When I eventually get round to doing my 606, I'll prob do the IP myself--BUT Under the guidance of a long time friend and 'Tame Diesel Specialist' who has the parts and a proper test-bench to set and confirm its all set up right....

Thank you all Smile
Alastair, nothing wrong with my IP, well, nothing that I know off, lol... I am just wondering if I could take mine out and if one day I have a bit of spare money get the 7.5 elements and get them fitted.
Just curious at the moment as there is no money and also the IP removal is daunting me a bit but it seems possible without too much troubles. I got the "basket" and the locking tool already. That's a start Smile
The elements fittings look like this is something else tho. What are the rollers? This was not mentionned before ?
One day, I might take it out and see Wink And feel sorry...
All the best.

if you fancy trying someone in the UK to build you a pump, S J Wilkinson were very helpful when I spoke on the phone to them. They do simms and bosch P series for ford pulling tractors...
