Black with Grey interior 1991 350SD W126.134. Bought with a blown head gasket. Transplanted a 3.0L 603.961 into it.

I told my friend I was looking for a Benz diesel. He told me about this car. It had a blown head gasket and sat for about three years. I didn't mind a project but that was a bit more than I wanted to get into.

After looking for a while and not fining anything better that was local I started researching the 350SD. After finding out about the rod benders I wasn't very interested until I found a 3.0L for $1,000. Problem was it was in Sacramento and I'm in NJ. I had to get someone to crate and ship the engine but, it was still the best option I could come up with at the time.

Turns out the engine is in very good condition and was worth the money and effort. It had a recently rebuilt head (17). new injector pump and cruise control servo and runs very good.

Thanks. The paint is pretty good and the interior is excellent. There isn't any rust even underneath there was a little surface rust starting. A quick hit with a wire brush and some paint took care of that. There are a couple of dings on the right front fender but they aren't bad. They could be covered with the chrome fender accent thingy that's available for the 126.

This started out as a shared car with my brother. It's kind of his now since I picked up the '93 300D in the other thread I started. I paid for most of the parts on we replaced on the car and both of our names are on the title so, I can still claim some ownership.

Oh I almost forgot. Those pictures were taken before the car got cleaned up. That's what it looked like after sitting for 3 years. That's why we decided to save the car from the scrapyard. The body and interior were just too good to junk.

Very nice, I'm quite impressed with your body work.

I really do enjoy working on these diesel Mercedes. Not sure I'd enjoy the project you did quite as much. I have done body work before. It's just been a long time since I've done any. Back then the part I enjoyed the most about body work was when it was finished.

Of coarse I can think of a lot of things that are worse then doing body work, to me.
