Best way to spend my money????
If I have say a $5,000 budget for the whole project, where should I spend my money?
I would love performance upgrades, but I don't want to kill the fuel economy. I've read about the IPs with the 7.5 elements and that sounds awesome but is that going to use way more fuel?

I am on the look out and hoping to buy a 300D in the next few weeks. Based on what I've seen in the area, it looks like I'll be spending between 2 and 3,000 for the car.

My "tank" cost $1900
the blue car was free
and the other two cost $900
And I probly only spent another 1000 on the tank in suspension parts, turbo rebuild, and misc...

I would first start by catching up on maintenance, then you can intercool and play fuel and with boost options
1982 300D Turbo ... 3,6xxlbs, No fan, No AC, Hood Stack, No ALDA, No rear bumper and stuffed front, A/W Intercooled, Injectors by Greezer and HUGE Pre-Chambers with help from OM616 & Simpler=Better, Fuel Cranked up, 60 Trim Compressor wheel, EGT, EMP, Boost 50" Rigid Radius bar on roof Aux tank for a total of 48 Gal Of Diesel! But get the car in top stock condition before you go super-turboing a jalopy and crack a piston or a prechamber.

That's the basics...the whole process is still in the pioneering stage here in the states. I have yet to see 603 with over 200hp here in the states.

03-10-2011, 11:18 PM #7Best way to spend money is to find one in great shape with maintenance history. Do some reading and learn how to properly maintain the car stock, THEN start looking into upgrading. If you are looking into big power you will spend a lot:
IP with larger elements = at least $1500
Larger turbo = $300-500
Intercooler and modification to fit it = $300ish?
Reinforced transmission rebuilt to take the extra power = $1500 minimum
