I am rebuilding my good old 300d and doing some much needed upgrades. I picked up a hx35 turbo for next to nothing and rebuilt it. I am in the process of getting 10mm elements when they come off back order. What kind of power levels can i expect to get? I was thinking of shooting for 400hp. Is this even reasonable to shoot for without engine mods? What kind of boost levels should i expect to use? Anyone who can provide me with some information in respect to any of these areas please feel free to make suggestions.

1985 300sd is in the rebuild process now, upgraded pump to 8mm elements(if i can ever get parts), hx35 turbo off of a cummins 5.9

Im no expert.
But i dont think the stock internals or head can handle 400hp, someone on here knows what the stock engine can handle.

Just a guess but 400hp seems high. Not sure though.

On another note, lets see some more pictures of your stack setup!!

You can see the Pic slightly in his aviator.

Have a talk with brabus. He is actually in the process in trying to achieve 400hp I think so.

He has been working in making his own free flow manifold that is intake exhaust. Port and flow the head and a few other modifications to increase flow in the motor.

good to know. i'll get with brabus. FYI the fender stack was a temporary deal and the hood stack is a 5" chrome genuine truck pull stack. i'm waiting to get the engine back together to do the hood stack installation. I was thinking 400hp was a bit out there but wasnt sure. Most of my background is in gasoline motors. I have a twin turbo 408ci mustang i work on also and it was 400hp at the wheels befor the twin turbos! This diesel thing tends to throw me off my game sometimes. I just dont know what i should shoot for....... At any rate i need an idea of where to start because when the 10mm elements come in i'll need to get it calibrated for my expected power. If i'm close i can just tweak the rack damper.

Where did you get the 10mm elements from, how much $$$ and who is putting them in and tuning the pump?

its a chinese company called CHJ i think. But its been on back order for a while. I'm waiting for them now. They are for a dt466 with a mw pump. they are cheap to. I am wanting to say like $140 for all the plungers with the delivery valves to! They have an ebay store but you need the bosch part number. it is 1 418 415 019 for the plungers and 1 418 512 012 for the delivery valves. they told me the plungers were 15.50 each.

Have you already get these elements? Do they fit to OM603 pump?
