I used Redline D4 atf, but high rpm gears dont go in wery good.
So i test MTL and gears go much better in.

This is now in the tranny http://www.redlineoil.com/product.aspx?pid=45&pcid=7

MTL is not good for MB's manuals, it will make shifting worse if it has any wear.
It needs to be ATF based, D4 or Mobil1.

Hmm. Yes Mb manuals use atf oil, but Redline MTL is suitable on those trannys and gears go better in.

Possibly in newly rebuilt ones. If its worn to where it ever grinds going into a gear (without being forced) MTL will make it grind more often.

MTL made my old slope-back tranny shift a lot worse compared to dino ATF. The rebuilt flat-back tranny has had Mobil1 ATF from day 1 and it shifts perfect.

I have old 717 433 and it is better with mtl, also getrag s is better shifting.

D4atf is better cold weather because it s not that stiff.

So the MTL is great when warm. When I first shift into first and second its too stiff. Not sure if I am going to take the time to swap it out now, I will probably wait till Fall. Forced I was unable to find the ATF. In my 4 spd I currently have Royal purple which works well. I think I will probably spend the change and get the OE stuff.
