my glow plug light has been blinking after i start, which i understand to mean "hey there's something wrong with your plugs!"

what i see in there does not appear to be the larger bodied loop style plugs. the car is a 1980 300TD and the engine number is 617912 12 108470. as far as i know it *should* have the old style plugs. but it doesnt.....

so are these the newer style pencil plugs, and does that mean i can order those for a replacement? i'm pretty sure yes now because i just checked and there is continuity between the wired heads of the plugs and ground....

Those are the new style plugs. The wagon got a lot of things first (after the SD).

Retrofit pencils have the large diameter body. Could also be the head was swapped at some point.

since i need to order replacements, what do i do? is there a way to be sure the newer style fits properly and this isnt some janky conversion?
