Again in this issue of mercedes enthusiast there is another diesel modder. They have the 2.9L sprinter engine in a 190d and said it was a straight drop in. I know nothing about this engine, no real decent pics in the mag either. Guy who owns it runs Choda Auto spares. This magazine is one of my fav car mags ever, worth the $10.

The 2.9 liter engine is an om602 5 cyl engine.
The one in the Sprinters and e290 turbodiesel is a direct injection with rotary pump and only about 5hp more than the turbo om602
Ssangyong also uses a similar engine but idi with mechanical pump IIRC.
1992 Mercedes 190D 2.5 turbo 5sp manual. EGT+boost gauges. Boost controller set to ~14.5 psi. 1 1/4 turns on full load adjustment. LPG injection.

Bore+stroke. 3.5L OM603 - 1 cylinder + computer controlled rotary injection pump. Later ones were direct injection.
