So Like I said, here's the story lol
Got a few hours one Friday to pull the engine and trans
Lets weigh this pile I said, no one knows the weight they said
HOLY SHIT
Anyone want a 2600 RPM stall 722.3x Converter?
Mother of God this thing is heavy. The 456 Cubic inch Chevy in our race truck only weighs 375 complete
Poor Rod bearing. It lost oil once, No one to blame but myself...
Fancy 3 square
Hmmmm Whys it rusty in there?
Just tearing it down now because I want to know what kind of shape everything's in since I put it through hell and the big ass reamed Pre-chambers.
Here is the cracked head cyl 2, 3, 4, ( I dont think the Pre-Chambers had anything to do with this)
And now the pistons which look to be in great shape considering the Pre-chambers. Don't think that ever hurt anything. Only thing the pistons show is damage from water entering the chamber from the cracked head. This almost seems like a common occurrence. Not sure if because this is a 617.951 or not. Maybe the 952's are better. This is only after wiping them with a rag
Number 5 I did not wipe just to show what it looked like when I pulled the head off
So at the end of all this, all Im really left with is maybe some good pistons, some good rods, and a good block.
Guess it would be better to just start with another good engine, rebuild that so its known fresh and not guessing its good just because it runs.
Honestly I'm not interested in a OM60x. I like the 617 too much
