I have a 127 engine from a 1960 220SE with it's 3 speed manual trans behind it. Anyone out there looking for one? Engine ran fine and trans shifted through all gears but probably will need clutch. pm me if interested.

Don't need the engine but was curious about how your 123 car steers with the 19s. My 123 has 18s off a 129 SL and turning to the right scrubs the tires quite a bit. Not noticed when turning left. I do need a steering box and will be replacing it when I install my 0m603 in it so that may be the problem. Had alignment professionally done and all other worn components replaced prior to the alignment. The scrubbing I'm referring to is noticeable at low speeds, as in parking or slow tight turns.

How does yours do?

mine does the same thing with one of my sets of 18s, but not with the 19s. those look like factory monoblock wheels and the backspacing may be a tad different than mine since they are reverse mount tires. Thats the only think I could think of, that or one of your caster adjustment arm bushings is worn on one side allowing the caster to change just enough to rub the tire. Very very nice looking wagon.

did you have much trouble with the small block fitting in the 111, what trans and rear end did you use?

what suspension setup did you use also?

Small block Chevy is kind of a pain in the ass to fit in there properly. Mercedes front sump oil pan doesn't lend itself to the Chevy. Even with a front sump on the Chev the oil pump still wants to sit right on the cross-member which means the engine needs to sit a little high. My car with the 71 front clip brings the hood line down to the point where carb clearance becomes an issue. Using a late model injected small block probably won't be a problem since they are so low. Also, the exhaust wants to sit on top of the steering box so setting the engine a little higher (I couldn't do it) will help give the clearance you need.

Trans is a 700r4 with the stock Benz 3.92 to 1 rear. Custom one piece drive shaft works fine. Seems plenty strong. I cut a coil out of the front stock springs to get it down and made the center compensator spring over the rear adjustable so I could adjust the height.

If I were to do it again I'd either drop a 6.3 or a 6.9 motor which I have in stock, in it or build a radical diesel for it.
