Hey Guys,

Work continues on my 'Mog. Need to sort out the glow plugs. Truck had a small engine compartment fire and the glow plug harness and relay were fried.

I am trying to figure out how I want to rig up the new setup. Keep It Simple Stupid applies here. This is a Unimog. Think water/harsh terrain etc.

I was curious about the "Fast Glow" setups. Link:

It looks like there would be only one wire going to the first glow plug, then the others piggy backing off that one? Is that correct? If so I would imagine that I could simply the setup by only running one wire. Does anyone know how many amps that one would require?

Unless you plan to start and stop your Mog in the water, you should probably go for the more reliable, later glow plug setup with each plug on a separate lead.

The daisy chained style is problematic because if the nut falls off of one or it shorts, it will break the connection to the rest down-current from it.

Hmm...some good points. I figured the individual setup was the early one.

I suppose I could run a heavy gauge lead down to the motor, and run the glow plug relay in the upper control panel with all the other equipment.

Anyone know the amp draw on these plugs?

The fuse is like 40 or 50 I think. If the engine has been running no need to glow, I would use the gorilla knob and make it manual, that way you can start it with the engine submersed.
