I will be upgrading to a Euro exhaust manifold and larger turbo soon (something like an HX35)...in that I will have to modify the downpipe (I think it is called) that goes from the turbo outlet to exhaust. So I may as well do a full upgrade while I am there. A friend will be helping me with the welding.

What I am looking for is to get some more airflow/effieciency, a more aggressive rumble at high RPMS, but nothing obnoxiously loud. I want to be able to idle and cruise at 85 without an annoying sound.

Do I need the resonator or can I delete that and just have a muffler on the rear?

Having a turndown tip makes a huge difference in noise. If you want to go 85 without annoyance though you'll need some kind of resonator.

Beware "turbo" mufflers, they are usually of a poor design. Avoid any chambered mufflers and look for something with a straight through flow like the factory.

I went with full 3 inch turbo back with a big dog muffler before the rear axle and love the sound. My wife drives it and does not mind the sound. I have the list of pipe if you want it I have no clearance issues and it pretty much looks stock. The muffler is the same as magna flow but cheaper and still stainless muffler is a 24 inch with offset. I built and welded it myself ordered the pipe from Columbia river mandrel they have all type of pipe and bends and they were a gret a help with everything even pipe for my custom header.Big Grin

Interesting I thought it was just for smoke residue, I can see how another bend would certainly make a difference.

95e300dex - A parts list of what I would need for your setup would be great!

Just for a point of reference, what size is the stock exhaust system? Is it smaller at the downpipe from the Turbo?

I went with a stock size pipe from turbo to a Moroso Noise cancellation muffler(straight through design) and a 90 degree bend and dumped in front of the left rear tire. Not too loud but will turn heads. Muffler can be found at www.summitracing.com
