Is it common to see cracks in a flywheel(for 617)?
I got one cheap but sight unseen until now.
The clutch surface has cracks that don't penetrate to the engine side.
The massive outer ring is also good so I can't imagine it falling apart.

Any experiences with this?

Heat cracks, normal on most aged clutches. As long as the machine shop can resurface it smooth again it will be alright.
