So have been driving the car quite a bit know couple of issues to sort out.

First is that I can't get the linkage to give me the extra travel required for full throttle.

Second I have the car idling perfect when the ELR is not connectedat 6-700 rpm. When I connect the ELR the idle jumps to 900 and when I put it in gear it surges at 6-700 rpm not hunting but like the ELR is over reacting. I was wondering on a 95 if the is something I can adjust to prevent this.

Yeah I have a 3 inch exhaust but still working out the bugs my elr is disconnected and the car runs smooth just a lower idle which I prefer. No videos yet need to get a friend to come for a ride and video a good run. The trans is still my week link need to take it easy or she won't last long.

Well I have been enjoying the upgraded pump but just a little to much. I am now getting some good blow by. If I pull the dipstick when it is running oil will come up the tube and spill out. It still runs like a raped ape but I get whit smoke at stop lights and long stops in traffic looks like it is time for new rings. I tried marvel mystery oil to remedy maybe a stuck ring but no luck. I think I am out of options except to pull the motor and do new ring unless someone has any suggestion.

So I pulled the motor and trans last week. I have tore the motor down and all looks real nice even the bearings. I think the rings where just not seated good enough for 25lbs of boost and had to many miles. I am going to re-ring and new gaskets. I am also trying to find some aftermarket rods to support more power. I have sourced a good 722.6 so now will be looking for a e420 speedo and a shifter from a 129. I have a k29 turbo sitting in the garage and was thinking of a compound setup with the hx35 with a quick spool valve and the K29 switzer turbo for some real good numbers and less black smoke. I could do the valve and try to get 10lbs of boost by 2500 rpm and 30 by 4500 with the K29. The K29 has a split scroll and would do good with a nice quick spool valve on it also set for 30lbs.

Please post pics of progress as you do so. I too am planning on turboing my 912. Glad to hear your engine didn't go thermonuclear. If you find some aftermarket rods, perhaps they'd be willing to give a little package deal for 12 (I'd love to upgrade my rods as well). If not, post/pm how much they're charging. I was thinking to compensate for lack of oil channels in pistons, it would be a good idea to have them coated. How much power do you reckon your engine is pushing?

Ok so for a update I found a 98 motor for piston and rods. I searched for rods everyone wanted close to 1500 for a set of custom rods. I put new rod bearings and Deves rings in the motor. I also replaced the valve seals and lapped the valves.

I am going with the compound setup I will use one side of my HX35 12cm housing. The low pressuare turbo will be a k29 with a 20cm housing it is a 64mm compressor and a 72 mm turbine. I will vent the exhaust with a 60 mm wastegate to the second side if the K29. Looking to get less smoke down low and a little more top end.

So I got it together with better valve springs and compound turbos it spun the number 1 rod bearing that I had just replaced. I have a line on another crank so I will put it back together and try again. The car was real fast with the setup I had but now I have a he221 for my small turbo should be real good out of the hole.

Hello. Any update on the setup?
I have 94 w124 e300d (n/a motor) and planning around 300hp (safe limit for this engine with least possible black smoke). Looking forward to your suggestions.
Thanks

Yeah! The world wants to know whether the rod bearing ever got unspun and how the compound he221 and k29 went! The hx35 was far too large for a good high pressure turbo, and the 221 should have been perfect. The 64mm compressor on the k29 is also a bit too small, actually, for good mass flow at PR of 2-3. So you might have painted yourself into a high boost corner there, as it needs to boost way higher to achieve good mass flow at higher rpm (assuming you still want a smokeless setup). hx52 is probably perfect - I think it is around 70mm compressor inlet. 60mm wastegate sounds perfect.
