This could very well be a dumb question BUT since I have messed with these vehicles like most of you have I thought I would just ask!

I have not had a 616 and a 617 camshaft side by side and I claim ignorance when it comes to their perspetvie firing orders BUT I am wondering if they fire the same EXCEPT for the 5th cylinder CAN a 5 cylinder turbo cam like the 125HP cam be cut off in the back to make it a 4 cylinder cam???

If its possible I think with a turbo set-up running around 5-7 psi, intercooler, Monark or 265's nozzles, IP tweaking, free flowing exhaust with a flowmaster style muffler in a manual tranny car could be alot of FUN!

Nope. If you want a turbo 616 cam you'll have to get one made from scratch or from Tempo in India.

The later 617 and 616 cams are identical except for the order in which the valves are opened. No need to make a 616 turbo cam, unless you want to go non-MB turbo cam specs. This was one of the first things I looked at before putting a turbo on my 616.
