Conversion and Injector question
You should try to find a RD28T- engine from a Nissan Patrol Y60, and a 5-speed transmission from example a Nissan Laurel C32 with RD28-engine.
You can maybe use transmission from a RWD Skyline(R32) with RB-engine also.
I have seen Tuned Laurels(C32) with RD28T
The older LD28 engine can also be turbocharged, it was a couple of C31 Laurels with turboed LD28, I tried one of them, and that one had lots of power.
And the LD is a stronger unit than the RD.
Nissans straight six diesel have a very nice engine sound, goes well and likes turbo-tuning very well.
BTW, the nissan RB-engine is actually very similar to the RD engines, they fit in the same engine montings and bellhousing
I Also believe that the Nissan/Datsun have rearmounted engine sump, and MB have frontmounted engine sump.
I would used the Nissan-engines and tuned those if I were You :-)
