Strong transmission for G-Wagen???

As will have much torque and as i want a manual gearbox,i decided to put one from Sprinter!!!
The code is:711.620 G32-5 and the gear ratio:
5.05:1
2.6:1
1.52:1
1:1
0.78:1
R4.76
I know that the vans have stronger transmissions than normally cars!!!
What do you believe???does it nice choise??

5.05 to 2.6 is a granny gear if I'd ever call it one! Even the getrag 4-speed 240D only had a 4.23 1st.

It's wierd that 5th is an OD tho.. that was the only number I was really looking at.

All the transmissions of the trucks and commercial vans are stronger than normal cars....
Do you believe that will hold 350Hp???
gvp - that looks like a great gear ratio. the wide spread should suite the G-wagen nicely. Kind of like a mix between the 711.117 and the 711.116 transmissions.
Probably not great for racing on streets but good for off road.

gvp - that looks like a great gear ratio. the wide spread should suite the G-wagen nicely. Kind of like a mix between the 711.117 and the 711.116 transmissions.
Probably not great for racing on streets but good for off road.

I am very interested for offroad use,but i like to go fast also at highway with the fifth overdrive!!!
Hope that ll holds the torque!!!

Which AT is currently under the hood ?
It's a manual trabsnission!!!
The car isn't ready yet,but ll have om606,myna pump and holset hx35...

01-31-2010, 01:03 PM #10Sorry to throw a wrench into the mix. I don't know much about these transmissions, but I gather some people throw big american V8's in front of them... Maybe someone with some experience with these things will chime in.
