So after doing some research, the clutch for the getrag 4 speed turns out to be a 8.5" 10 spline by 1 1/8" unit, which just so happens to be the same as a mustang with a 2.3l (which also strangely enough have quite a following). I did some digging and came up with this:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RAM-98610
or those with the need for a racing clutch:
http://www.dudiakracingproducts.com/inde...ceid=GPDRP
and those who are on a budget:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/RAM-88610/?rtype=10

Im thinkin ill go with option #1.

'78 300D, OM617.912: 4spd manual, TB03 at 10PSI, 26*BTDC, DV's turned, HVAC, emissions system removed, e-fan, short ram, 3" downpipe to straight exhaust, W126 Bendix brakes, MR2 Spyder seats. 2890lbs

The Chevy S10 uses the same splines, don't know about the diameter.

You can always cut the pressure plate ring deeper than the clutch face is cut when the FW is resurfaced.

That 2.3l isn't the NA turd but the Turbo Coupe/Mustang SVO motor. Unlike the 5.0l that motor can put out about 5-600hp on stock internals, so that might be a very stout clutch indeed.

So the whole kit bolts up, or just the disc?

FWIW I have been VERY happy with the Gwagen clutch. Not so happy about the weight of the FW. I would recommend trying out a different pressure plate on a 240D, I believe that will do the job.

Did the Gwagen Flywheel get rid of the driveline vibrations in your 4speed conversion?

Never had those, my conversion parts were from a 300d. Trans from a 200d.

The weight is the same as the 300d. I wouldnt mine finding a half way point between the 240d and 300d. Low end torque went way up and it was smoother overall but top end accel was diminished. It is easy as pie to get on ramps now though Big Grin.

Im gonna need to change out my clutch real soon, and would like to install somthing better than stock.

Well, im not sure how long my 240D has had this clutch, but its definetly time for a new one soon. Its engaging later and later.

Is that 5 years of normal fwy/city driving, or is that 5 years of really beating on it?
I want to go with a "better" clutch because my car really takes alot of punishment from me.

There is a list of pressure plates and clamping pressures in the FSM. You could stick with stock clutch and get a higher clamping pressure plate.

I have what I think is a 300d flywheel. I'm pretty sure it takes the G-wagen clutch but it has a lighter ring than the G.

I'd be happy to trade for the heavy G flywheel. I can take some measurements later.

The G flywheel should be lighter than the 300D...It is physically the same except for the maching done to accomodate the larger flywheel/PP combo.

The 300D takes a 215mm combo v. 230mm for the G.
Garage - there is a place nearby you that builds custom clutches, IIRC they are in Colton I will have to ask my brother for the name.

You can also try try Clutchnet - they will build what ever disc you want and modify your stock 240D plate (new) to whatever clamping pressure you want. They are the people that will do my clutch work when I am ready for it.

but not 650nm torque

Does anyone have this already installed couplings in a '92 300D?
who ice if it all fits together with the 5 speed? `my sachs clutch has 228mm these are all 9" and not 8.5 and the disc is not flat but curved ... the thrust bearing should naturally fit ..

Reading looks like spec sux.

OK now I'm just beating my head on the wall. Spec vs ram clutches. Conflicting reviews on both. I hope someone can contribute a time tested upgraded original replacement. I will have a 38lb flywheel. Not sure what HP I will be running but have a moderate IP from Dieselmeken that I'm throwing in. 6mm.

Graciously awaiting input.
