Hi guys,

I'm trying to downsize my HX40W to help eliminate turbo lag as I don't drive this car over 120kph anyways. Anyone here run a borg warner s200sx? Are they good on a om606? Is it too small?

Thanks

Most people on here are too cheap to buy something like that, which is why you won't get many responses. I think it will be better than a hx35 as BW's trend to have less inertia, so it will spool faster and still give a good top end. But there's only one real way to find out...

I would go for it. The 200 has a slightly smaller turbine wheel than the HX40 but it is a newer design. You also have your choice of compressor wheels.. Downside is you'll need an external wg but that would be better than internal really...
s300 is probably HX40 size but I would stick with s200 unless you want like 500hp

They are $550 new, another $65 for the goofy Marmon flange and a T4 adapter.

My goals are just fun daily driving with the occasional ripping. The g wagon It's my camping/traveling car. Yeah I found a cheapish local one has 2000kms on it. How hard is it to adapt an external wastegate to my internal wastegate setup? It's already a T4 outlet.

Do you know what model the local one is? If it is an older one it may not be t4, but you are at an advantage if you already have a t4 flange.

I am realizing that the cost of my advice is adding up, there are some really nice adapters on ebay but they are $170! There is a less nice one that is $90-

If you can cut and weld you can probably make your own with two 1/2 in adapters bored out and welded to a v band. This is what I am going to do for my set up. My s200 has a wastegate at the moment but I keep trying to stop myself from getting a 200sx.

I got a wastegate from seller wyntonm, apparently they are one of the better quality cheap clones. Seems like it is well made, I have yet to use mine, but I tested the opening pressure and it was spot on. Check his page, they come in all sizes and psi ratings

How do you find the s200? And how much of a difference do you think the 200sx will make?

I really like mine but it is a bit big for what I need. The compressor housing is enormous so it takes up a lot of room. The only reason I would get a 200sx instead is because I would go for the 51/70 mm compressor, it will suit my needs now and in the future and hopefully have a little bit better response. Right now I have a 54/77. I am only planning on having 300-320 hp with the new pump.

Really though there is no reason for me to swap, I am just bored and like to experiment I guess. It would probably be a costly way to find out that it made little difference.

That's good to hear. I've just bought a s200g that requires a rebuild. Was thinking of 'improving' it but I can't seem to find any aftermarket wheels.

Cool. Is it the 10 blade turbine? Perhaps we have the same one. I rebuilt mine, it was surprisingly easy. All you need is lock ring pliers

Yeah that's right, 10 blades with an internal gate. I can get a new core for £160ish so I may just do that.
