I have a couple cars that are giving me fits at the moment, what would indicate that the ip is to blame?

IPs seldom fail. What kind of problems are you experiencing?

Without knowing the symptoms exactly could be anything from bad fuel to dirty junk in the ip to sticking delivery valves, or could be timing, stuff like that

-1982 300D Turbo, 280k miles, ALDA apparently maxxed, fram 8038, 12 lbs boost, non-egr manifolds, W/M injection, 4 brake light mod, Gen II w126 front rotors/calipers, 4-speed swap
In the works: A/W IC, adjust pump, turbo rebuild (w/60 trim comp wheel)
-1980 300SD, 110k, project car. Goal is to get it lookin' like it did on the showroom floor (body and interior wise, not necessarily under the hood )
-1974 240D, FRESH PAINT!!!!!!

One car has an idle issue, will start at wide open throttle and after a little warmup it can be run at any normal rpm, but wont idle, foot off throttle, car dies.

Second makes little to no power, I haven't been able to look at it much, but I did change fuel filter. I'd like to tear it appart and replace all fuel lines, I may try a different lift pump too. It seems better once it warms up, but still hardly makes any power.

I forget to ask... What year and models are these cars?
And did the problems start suddenly or was it a gradual and progressive type of thing?

The car that dies came as a non runner, I think glow plugs may be dead but so is my multimeter so I cant verify. 87 300sdl

The other is an 82 300sd that started as an intermitant problem uppon startup and gradually became worse.

for the one that keeps stalling you can try to turn op the idle. Top external screw on the governor. I don't remember if you should turn it in or out.

The one that has little to no power probably has a clogged ALDA line.
Just had to clean the soot out of my buddies 300SD, it was the slowest thing id ever driven before we fixed the alda

'82 300D -3" straight pipe, ALDA deleted, 3in1 glowshift gauge, HX30, egr-less manifold, A/W intercooler Big Grin
'14 Ram 6.7l cummins -G56 handshaker, wishing it was deleted

the 2 symptoms I have witnessed were

worn DV's - you have to change these, no cleaning helps /significant shakes is the sympt./
messed elements (via upper nuts) - back to adjustment table /no able to start, uneven fuel, severe shakes/
